Student Center Recognized Globally for Innovation of the Year

Marketing Manager Brian Petyo accepts the IACC Americas Innovation award in Philadelphia

Only one year after the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC) recognizes Student Center & Event Services globally as a conference center of excellence, the Student Center wins the first-ever IACC Americas Innovation award. The winner was announced at the IACC Americas Connect award ceremony in Philadelphia. The Student Center was the sole recipient of this year’s award for its Real-Time Ops app designed to enhance staff communications and improve customer service.

The app allows front-line staff to quickly capture and communicate the day’s events. It is easy to install, easy to use, and has never resulted in the need for additional hardware. The app takes full advantage of built-in camera capabilities for attaching photos and voice recognition technology for capturing observations on the go. It also pulls data from our event management system so that incidents or special requests can be billed accordingly.

Major Events Policy

You are invited to submit comments about the policy until November 30, 2018.

UCI’s Interim Major Events Policy became effective on July 1, 2018. The policy enables sponsors to plan and host successful events on campus and enables UCI to ensure the safety and security of the UCI community and its guests. The policy uses content- and viewpoint-neutral factors to identify events that can benefit from additional planning and sets forth the additional planning steps.

The policy applies to events that are sponsored by non-University parties and that are expected to:

  1. be attended by more than 300 people; or
  2. significantly affect campus safety, security, and/or campus services; or
  3. significantly interfere with other campus functions or activities.

The policy applies to all major events that are planned beginning July 1, 2018.

All affected parties, such as (but not limited to) Registered Campus Organizations and Off-Campus Guests, are invited to submit their comments and concerns to the UCI Campus Policy Coordinator.

Student Center & Event Services strongly advises all parties to carefully review this policy as it may affect your planning process for booking events on campus.

Viewpoint Art Gallery

The Viewpoint Gallery at The UCI Conference Center is a dedicated space for traveling art exhibits to foster the creative culture of the UCI experience.

Located on the second floor of the Student Center near the Crystal Cove Auditorium, the gallery is conveniently situated above the Visitor Center and a few steps from the West Food Court.
